Empty Bowls

It’s an extra special project the 10th Mitchell County Leadership Class has undertaken. This year’s class is hosting an ambitious program this Saturday called “Empty Bowls”.

The decade old leadership Class wants to help end hunger on the community level.

The event includes a soup supper which will be donated by area restaurants and businesses. One of the 2-recipients of the proceeds is the Mitchell County Food Bank.

One of the event organizers, Leadership Class Member Carol Cordel says, most people don’t understand what the Food Pantry means to a community until you need their help.

The theme of the event – Empty Bowls – comes from the contribution from area artists. Each participant in the project will be able to take home, while supplies last, an empty bowl compliments of the artists.

Katie Cheney, another Leadership Class Member says, area artist Marla Koops is one of the featured artists.
