Lee Supports Smoking Ban

Enough is enough! In 36th District State Senator Janis Lee’s weekly report she says she will not support any more cuts in education, nor the continuing of 10% reductions in Medicaid or any more cuts to the funding of public safety agencies.

Those are the reasons Senator Lee says she supports Governor Mark Parkinson’s recommendation the legislature give serious consideration to revenue enhancements. The Governor wants to do that by increasing the state sales tax.

House Bill 2221 also has Senator Lee’s support. The House passed the controversial smoking ban bill last week, which now moves on to the Governor’s desk for his signature.

HB2221 – the Kansas Indoor Clean Air Act makes the act of smoking unlawful in virtually all public places.

Lee says she supports the bill because of the enormous medical cost to Kansans.
