Ten Year Accreditation Cycle Recommended

When the word finally came late this morning, the room – filled with North Central Kansas Technical College faculty, staff and administrators – erupted into cheers.

Following a 2-day intensive visit by a North Central Association Accreditation Team, Team Chair Dr. William Tammone – Vice President for Academic Affairs at Illinois Central College – announced the team’s recommendation that NCKTC be given a 10-year cycle of accreditation.

Accompanying the accreditation recommendation was the team’s collective rational for the positive determination.

Despite having just jumped through the toughest of the accreditation hurdles, it will still be 4-to-6 months before a final decision is rendered.

Still left, reviews from a reader’s panel, an institutional council and the North Central Association Board.

Following Dr. Tammone’s presentation, NCKTC Director Clark Coco thanked his faculty and staff for their hard work. His congratulations reflected the exuberance everyone in the room felt about the accreditation team’s positive recommendation.
