KHP: No Fatalities Reported Over Independence Weekend

The July 4th holiday weekend has come and gone, and Kansas experienced much travel on the state’s roadways. Last weekend, the Patrol and other law enforcement personnel from throughout the state worked to help ensure motorists reached their destinations safely. The Patrol’s preliminary figures from the holiday weekend activity are in, and for the July 4th, 2010 holiday reporting period (6:00 p.m. Fri., July 2 until 11:59 p.m. Mon., July 5), the Patrol worked no fatality crashes on Kansas roads. Over the holiday, troopers reported the following:

DUI Arrests: 47
Speed Citations: 913
Speed Warnings: 796
Adult Seatbelt Citations: 728
Adult Seatbelt Warnings: 125
Teen Seatbelt Citations: 39
Teen Seatbelt Warnings: 4
Child Restraint Citations: 56
Child Restraint Warnings: 6
Motorists Assisted: 1,173
