Grabast Represents Osborne One Last Time In Shrine Bowl

The 44th Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl is taking place on Saturday night at Butler County Community College in El Dorado.  One of our area participants will be a part of the West squad this year.  Osborne High School’s Cullen Grabast will become the fourth ever Bulldog to compete in the game.  Kevin Moore played in the game in 1977, Dusty Trail in 1984 and Kenton Ubelaker took the field in 2014.

When looking at Grabast’s career numbers, he’s no doubt a worthy selection.  In his four seasons at Osborne, he racked up a total of 3,836 yards and 70 TD rushing along with 1,242 yards and 21 TD receiving.  He totaled 5,443 all-purpose yards in that time.  He also ran for over 1,000 yards in each of his final three seasons.  In his senior season, Grabast helped lead the Bulldogs to a 13-0 record and the 8-Man DI State Championship.  He had 2,198 all-purpose yards, which included 1,608 rushing and 32 TD on the ground.  Defensively, he compiled 49 tackles and seven interceptions in his final season.

Grabast and the West All-Stars have been working hard this week in preparation for the Shrine Bowl.  At KD Country 94 and Z 96.3 Sports, we had a chance to talk with Grabast about the opportunity to play in the game, and he says he was excited to be selected and is ready to take the 11-man field after a career in 8-man.

After the Shrine Bowl, Grabast will have more opportunities on the 11-man field as he is set to play football at McPherson College and he will also compete in Track & Field while there.  Until then, Grabast gets his curtain call as a Bulldog in the Shrine Bowl.  Again, the game is Saturday night, with kickoff at 7:00 at BG Products Sports Complex at Butler Community College in El Dorado.
